The Society of Chartered Surveyors (SCS) is Ireland’s largest construction and property professional body for Chartered Surveyors practicing in the Republic of Ireland, and currently has
over 2,200 corporate members and in excess of 1,000 probationers practicing in all areas of the property and construction industries. The Society has strong links with the RICS, which represents over 110,000 members across 120 countries worldwide, and is one of the most respected and high profile global standards and membership organisations for professionals involved in land, valuation, property, construction and environmental issues.
Accountable to both members and the public, the Society of Chartered Surveyors has five primary roles:
Members of the Society are typically professionals employed in the land, property and construction markets through private practice, in central, regional and local government, in public agencies, in academic institutions, in business organisations and in non-governmental organisations. Members are at the forefront of decisions that initiate real, positive changes in the built and natural environments in which we live.
Offers a specialised service in all matters relating to construction, including the restoration of old buildings and the construction of new. Among other services offered are structural surveys, schedules of dilapidations and insurance claims.
The Building Control Act 2007 provided for the registration of the use of the title “quantity surveyor” and “building Surveyor”. The Society of Chartered Surveyor (SCS) is named in the act as the registration body.
